How to start a fanbase on the internet in 2025

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to start a fanbase.

Let’s get into it.

So there are a few ways that you can start a fanbase on the internet. 

Each way depending on which platform that you’re going to use.

However, each way that you use, should be noticed that you’re going to have to spend long hard hours working in the platform.

Like it’s not a short term game, 

I remember one of these days, I heard a musician say that they like Tik Tok because it’s great for going viral. 

And that’s great and all, but it still takes a lot of work in order to actually go viral on Tik Tok. 

Like I have seen Tik Tok sensations come and go and not do anything. 

you know what I mean?

And I get it, it’s a hot new tool that you can use in your arsenal of musicianship. 

But I’m telling you right now, that no matter the platform that you’re going to use, you’re going to need to spend some time and probably years developing and cultivating that channel in order to actually do something with it. 

So like, I have heard of some people saying that they can do it faster and they can do it better. 

But in all reality, there is nothing like taking the long slow way to actually learn all of the ins and outs of being a content creator. 

I chose a blog because…

I chose a blog because I thought that writing skills would transfer over really nicely to jobs. 

But there are other notable platforms that you should use. 

Facebook

Twitter or X

Instagram

Tik Tok

YouTube

These are all good social platforms to really share and spread awareness of your music. 

But you pick however you want to do it. 

After you pick your first platform, you need to stick to it for a few years. 

So what I would recommend to do, is to pick a platform and stick with it for a few years and build up your following on that platform.

and then after you’re getting tons of views and subscribers to your blog, then you can use the power that you get from the first platform to build your following on all other social platforms. 

So like say for example me, after I start getting around 10,000 viewers a month, I’m going to promote my x and my Instagram on my blog so that way my other channels can grow as well. 

And that’s basically the way that you’re supposed to go about it. 

I could also make a YouTube channel and get subscribers and followers there. 

But I mean that would be icing on the cake at that point.

I think I’m going to start putting up YouTube Videos anyways. 

And the way that you need to create a following is

Just start making content. Don’t matter if it’s bad at first, but make content and learn how to create content. 

Learn the production steps needed in a video. Learn the process in a blog. 

Learn how to write and communicate effectively. 

Don’t be scared to really put in some work because that’s really how it’s supposed to be done. 

And literally, the best way to gain a following on most platforms is literally by just making content. 

Platforms really like the fact that you can come out with blog posts and photos and videos really consistently. 

So don’t give up and if you fail pick yourself back up again and write again and make more content. 

The point is to find the rhythm and put it in practice every day.

If not 6 times a week. 

There are some musical things that specifically musicians can do if they want to gain a following 

So releasing music and performing your songs has to be something that you do. 

Perform somewhere, anywhere. 

Well perhaps it would be best if you performed at places where peopled would like you. 

Like you could perform at coffee shops for a more family friendly environment. But you could also perform at bars if you want a more adult oriented environment. 

Performing should be something that you do. 

But also, releasing music and coming out with music should be something that you do.

Call yourself a true indie musician. 

And do everything yourself. Promote, release, perform your own songs and develop a following in the area.
