Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all a little something that’s going on in my life right now.
Let’s get into it.
Albums 101
So I have been promoting my music for a little over 5 years.
And right now, I’m starting to gain some good traction in this blog believe it or not.
I just crossed the mark where I was supposed to make 100 or more views in a single day and it’s not going too bad for my blog.
Granted it’s not where I want it to be, like I wish it was higher than that but it’s not bad still.
For those of you that don’t know if you can average 100 views per day to a blog, it’s around 3,000 views per month and at that point some people say that you can make a good part time side hustle with that amount of views.
Some people say you can’t and it’s actually more possible that I won’t, but we’re getting there.
Anyways, I just started making 100 views per day to the blog all thanks to the Lord of Lords.
He has been good to me all these years.
Anyways, how many albums am I realistically expecting to sell.
Well there are a couple of factors that we need to consider before we start estimating how many albums someone is going to sell.
How many albums do indie musicians typically sell within a year?
It’s not much.
In a year with physical sales being the major contributing factor because downloads are down, they usually sell around 250 to 500 albums within a year.
With 500 albums within the year being a really big successful indie album launch.
Some people aim for 20,000 albums within the year because at that point they would start to get noticed by major record labels.
And there are musicians who do that and those musicians do end up going to the majors.
But for me, I mean, I’m doing everything on my own, I’m writing the songs, singing it, playing the guitars, producing, mixing, mastering, promoting, I’m doing everything about the songs and I don’t have the same resources as those other musicians probably have.
But we’re going strong with it.
And I’m not going to let that be the reason why my music won’t blow up.
But I am going to be realistic with my first album launch.
Within the year, for my first album, I hope to sell around 200 albums.
Now the problem is that a majority of musicians albums sold are sold at concerts and I’m not a touring musician.
And literally the biggest venues in my area are like the only venues in the area to be honest with you.
So it’s hard for me to build up my local scene when all they want are the biggest acts.
So literally I have to take CD’s with me to all of the coffee shops that I go to perform at their open mic’s and perform my utmost best at those open mic’s and try and sell my albums there. That’s literally what I need to do.
But there’s another problem with that.
In the area where I’m at, all of the coffee shops that have open mic’s are all spread out apart from each other, Like I think the next coffee shop with an open mic is located around 50 miles away from me. Like it’s literally that far away.
Anyways, it’s nothing that I haven’t done before.
And the Lord will guide me to do great things.
Streams
Now here is where things get interesting
Album and single sales aren’t the only ways that musicians get paid anymore.
Musicians also get paid on streams and you can rack it up on streams to be honest with you.
This is where the power of my blog comes in.
When I start to get thousands of views to my blog per month, my blog will be a perfect place to put up links to my music and before you know it, I will be getting streams left and right to my music.
Right now, I actually have around 300 streams this year alone, I started promoting on my blog and Facebook.
And it’s actually not that much money, it’s actually around $1.44, but hey if I ‘ve started doing it, then I can do it again.
So my distributor owes me $1.44
And that’s with the fact that I have a small following.
Thats not including the fact that my blog still hasn’t been more concentrated and has a larger following. So yeah, I just can’t wait for the up and coming months.
And November?!?!
November is the busiest times for blogs!
All the months leading up to November get busier and busier and this year is looking really good.
All thanks to God.
The Lord has provided.
