Hey everyone! So today, I want to share with you all a little secret in staying consistent in your blogging schedule.
Let’s get into it.
How I stay consistent?
So what happens is that the Lord blessed me with the ability to build the habit of blogging almost every day.
From time to time I fail, but for the most part, I am able to actually stay consistent with my blogging schedule because I post and write almost every day.
So let’s talk about habit building 101 for the first part
Habit building 101
They say that if you want to build a habit, then you need to do it for a minimum of 30 minutes per day and do it for 6 months straight.
After that point you have built up a habit.
So say for example if you want to start playing guitar and you want to build up the habit of practicing intently every single day, then you really need to be practicing the guitar every day for at least 30 minutes every day.
After that it is recommended that you increase the amount of time that you spend playing the guitar.
The same is true for blogging.
If you want to build up the habit of blogging every single day, then you need to first blog every day for a minimum of 30 minutes per day and commit to that schedule for everyday if not 6 days out of the week for 6 months straight.
After that, it will be easier for you to actually blog because it will come like natural to do so.
And that’s actually what I did.
I actually first started blogging almost every day for 7 months straight.
And then I took a break but then I got back into it a few months later.
and now lo and behold, I have a blog that gets consistent traffic.
But that’s the first step out of 3
The next step is to try and increment the amount of blog posts that you are putting out
So the next thing that you need to do is to try and do for another six months to blog for an hour or 2 every day and increase the amount of blog posts that you are putting out.
I’m pretty sure by now you have realized that blogging for 30 minutes per day only goes so far.
So incrementing it to 2 hours or an hour every day is going to increase the amount of blog posts that you are putting out.
At this point I would even try and start coming out with like 3 blog posts per day or some really high number like that.
Because now you have the strength needed to actually commit to this, now it’s time to add repetition.
The last step in this year and a half to 2 year journey is…
schedule your posts ahead of time
I actually was able to post everyday at least once per day to my blog due to the fact that my CMS has a content calendar feature where i can schedule posts ahead of time.
And I think that is the final step in ensuring that you are always publishing content.
For me it was really difficult at first trying to post every day.
But scheduling posts ahead of time really changed the game.
