How to use the guitar in your songs?

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to show you all how to use the guitar in your songs. 

Let’s get into it.

Use it for harmony

The guitar is a rhythm instrument. That means that it was meant to be used as a supporting instrument to the main lead. 

And that’s what most songs actually have the guitarist do.

It’s a great accompaniment to the song that you’re playing. 

And the popularity of the guitar is that it sounds great and offers a unique and dynamic advantage when playing live shows. 

The harmonic relevance of the guitar means that you need to have a wide chord vocabulary under your belt. 

At least know how to do the Major, Minor, Minor 7s, Major 7s, Dominant 7s, Suspended 2 and suspended 4 chords and some of their variations. 

Like say for example a rock G chord is different from a standard G chord. 

Use it for lead

The guitar is one of those instruments that is just overall great at doing a wide variety of things. 

And using the guitar as a lead could mean using it for a guitar solo, it could also mean using the guitar’s lead for a harmonic balance in the song. 

You could play a lead part on the guitar and have it sung over the vocals and it would sound good that way. 

It’s just the way that you shape the song that really depends on how you use the guitar. 

But you could really use the guitar as a guitar solo where it takes the spotlight

But that’s your decision. 

Those are the two primary ways that you could use the guitar.

I’m pretty sure that you can find someone out there who can do it another way, I’m pretty sure that you could find someone who knows how to handle it in a different way, but in all reality, that’s the way that you’re supposed to use it.
