Musician Help: Where to get resources for your music career?

Hey everyone! So today, I wanted to share with you all the extra resources that you could use to fund your music career. 

Let’s get started. 

The mindset that you should have

So, not everything is about money. 

As a matter of fact did you know that the CIA has an outstandingly large budget in order to obtain information. 

And they actually exchange money for information a lot. 

That’s just one of those fun facts that I one time heard, I’m not sure how true it is but I believe it’s very true. 

But I get it, it’s good to be resourceful. 

And as a matter of fact, I highly recommend being resourceful in all of your endeavors. 

Let’s talk about some of the things that you should be thinking of in order to actually establish the mindset that you should have to successfully make music your career. 

If you don’t have money, you have to work and work like you’ve never worked before

Sometimes you even have to work for free. 

Sometimes you can get by with minimalist promotion techniques and sometimes minimalist promotion techniques are the only things that you need in order to actually promote your stuff. 

But in almost everything, you’re going to have to invest in a little bit of money. 

Whether that’s by buying your own computer so you can blog and create videos. 

Or if it’s by using that money towards advertising or product development. 

Whatever your case is, you need to invest somehow. 

This means that if you want to really start out in music, it’s often good to get a part-time or full time job.

And don’t look at this in a bad way. 

Look at this as an opportunity to grow. 

Because believe it or not, you do learn a lot by working for other people. 

I say this now as a much older and wiser German. 

I think that if I hadn’t worked for other people so many times and asked so many questions about businesses, I honestly don’t think that I would know how to start my Guitar business right now. 

But right now, I really do have a good idea as to how to start teaching guitar. 

I have a few different concepts that I want to take into action. And it’s honestly just a big blessing. 

So, if you’re a kid, and you’re out here and you’re doing really good in music, congratulations, that’s the first step in the real world. 

You have a blessing. 

And you could teach tons of people how to do the same. 

The thing is that you need to continue to grow as a musician. 

And people will pay top dollar in order to hear from you or to see you teach. 

But anyways, back to the mentality and the work you have to do, be humble and accept the fact that most people just don’t have a million dollars to start up a business and embrace the fact that you have to be very resourceful in all of the things that you do. 

Embrace cheap alternatives that get the job done. 

Embrace being patient and not caring about what other people think of your success or even your failures. 

But let’s talk about resources, where do we get them?

Let’s talk about different resources shall we? 

And how to get them.

Let’s first talk about the things that you already have

Do you have a Computer? Do you have a Guitar? Do you have Music knowledge? Do you have a job? Do you have a High School Diploma? Do you have a College Diploma? Do you have a place to do your work? Do you have a car? All of these things really do matter and anything that you could add to this list is a bonus to you. 

So after you’ve talked about your resources that you already have, talk about the things that you need to get in order to make this a possibility. 

Do you really need a NEW and SHINY computer with this year’s model instead of 2 years old computer that you already have?

You probably don’t. 

Do you really need to get that brand new Taylor that you’ve been eyeing? 

You probably don’t, your guitar works probably just fine. 

Do you really need to get a new job to get more income for your business? 

I’m telling you right now, work with what you have already.

Don’t go out and make even more risky moves than the ones that you’re already doing.

So after you’ve decided on that. 

Look at cheap and effective ways to do things

Do you want to advertise/promote/ gain more customers to your music lessons?

Create cheap business cards. There are places that do it cheap. I’m looking at a few different ones right now where it’s so cheap and it’s not even funny. 

Or if you want to do it for free. Start a blog and build your way to the top. 

Don’t give up when the going gets hard. 

Give it your all.

Do you want to record and distribute music on your own?

Find free or cheap ways to do it.

I’ve recorded so many songs on my phone and IPad that I could probably release an album with all of the songs that I’ve made. 

Like right now, I think the most expensive thing that I had to use to record my recent songs has been my phone. 

And that was only like 200 dollars. 

So yeah. 

Do you want to just be an overall influencer? 

Start making content and use the skills that you have and learn more skills along the way! 

Do your best with what you have with where you are, that’s the saying isn’t it?

And it’s so true.
