Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all the fact that I’m making demos for record labels.

Let’s get into it.

Something I didn’t want to do but recently researched more about

So I was doing some digging around on the internet.

And I found on the ASCAP website that there are actually a few contracts that record labels offer their songwriters.

To be quite honest with you, I had already read this article a long time ago, it’s just that I didn’t remember it.

And basically what the article says is that there are a few different types of songwriters for a record label and different contracts for a record label.

One of the most common recording contracts is the exclusive recording contract.

And in that contract, you will write songs for the record company for a whole year or 2 and they give you advances in your royalties every week to help you out on your day to day operations as a musician.

And I saw that and I said, “How good of a deal is that?” You write songs in exchange for payment and they give you contracts depending on how good of songs you make.

And what happens is that a few years back, record labels started making 360 deals with artists where no matter where the artist goes, the record label will make money off of you.

And I thought that was pretty not cool.

But at the same time, I don’t know all of the nuances between the record company and the artists.

But also the exclusive songwriter agreement between songwriter and record label doesn’t do that.

They just work off of the songs that you make.

So this means, that I can make songs for a record label and still keep my blog to myself.

This is good news to me.

However, I don’t know exactly the dynamic of it all

There is a bit of a caveat to this.

What happens is that I was sending Demos to record labels just a few days ago and the one that replied back and was really good, actually was one where I said that I get between 500 and 700 views per month to my blog.

Which I do get.

So I don’t know if this record label exactly wants me to get signed as an artist or to keep me as a songwriter.

Either way this record label asked me to keep sending them demos.

So, I think it’s safe to say that I’m going to record more demos and send it their way.

More about the demo process and how I managed to do it on another post.

But yeah, either way, they asked for more demos, and so I’m going to send more demos.

No matter what I do, the Lord will be there with me.
