Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all the fact that I’ve started to dissect songs.

Also, I’m going to explain how I’m going to do it.

Let’s get into it

Dissecting songs

So what happens is that now, I’ve reached a point where my understanding of music theory and melodic creation has really gotten to a good point.

So, I’m going to start dissecting songs because I feel like now I can understand where things are going in the song.

So without further ado, I’m going to share how I’m going to do it.

Melody

First thing is first, I’m going to examine the melody.

I’m going to see what kind of hooks they are using and how they use it.

I’m also going to see how they are harmonizing with the chords in the song.

Because I have already started to dissect songs and I’ve already started noticing some patterns with songs of all caliber.

I’m also going to see how they use different musical elements to really enhance the songs.

I’ve noticed that a lot of artists use syncopation and rests to really emphasize different melodic parts.

Also I’m going to examine how they use contrast to make the song.

Because I’ve said it before that music is a balance between contrast and unison.

And contrast is needed to create emotion but unison is needed to create a strong feeling.

And I’ve already started to notice some patterns in music that songwriters do.

Chords

It’s important to know how the harmonic structure of a song is used.

It’s important to see how the chords are used to create different emotion and a foundation in the songs.

Which again I’ve seen a lot of patterns that are prevalent in every song. (Cough Cough I-V-vi-IV)

I’m also going to see the production elements.

I really feel like production wise, I have created some really great songs recently production wise.

My vocal production is what I really want to enhance to be honest with you.

I was really trying to get that professional producer sound and I’ve been researching how to do it just recently.

And I think that right now, My productions are sounding really nice.
