Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all how to make great demos.

Let’s get into it.

The first step is making great songs

So When you create a demo.

The fact that you put the title demo in front of it does not mean that it’s a great demo.

The song itself has to sound good.

And you get better at writing songs by writing great songs.

You need to get better at writing melodies, and writing chords, and writing harmonies.

That’s the first thing.

There is a common saying in the music industry and it is that if you can make a song sound good with just the chords and the voice first, then the rest will follow after.

So if you can, try and record great music with just the guitar or piano and vocals first.

And you will know that it is a great song when you feel it emotionally inside of you.

When you get goosebumps listening to your own song.

that’s when you know that you have made a great song.

Like literally try and give yourself goosebumps with your own song, and you will find that those songs are the best songs that are out there.

Next is get good at using a DAW

You want to learn the basics of recording and mixing so that you can record, produce, and mix your own songs because trust me, those producing bills are high and they will charge you an arm and a leg if you don’t know what you’re doing.

So get good at using a DAW so that you can come out with your own demos without having to pay the high fees of a producer or mixing engineer.

Remember to learn the basics in producing and mixing so that you can come out with your best songs.

Learn about layering, music theory, DAW basics, microphone usage, mixing techniques. And just start to practice all of these techniques so that your demos can sound really good.

Then you will start making demos

Once you have the great songs and the great production skills set in place.

Then you can start to make quality demos.

But remember that this is a long process.

To actually create demos that sound good, you need a lot of experience and skills in music and recording technology.

So don’t expect to become a professional demo maker by the end of your first year songwriting.

It takes time.
