Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all some music tips for the advanced musician.

Let’s get into it.

Who this blog post is designed for?

So this blog post is designed for the musician who either already knows music theory, or has a keen and developed ear to hear the things that’s needed in music to make music sonically attractive.

So this blog post is really designed for musicians who have at least 5 years of making music.

Either you have already won some awards in music and are looking to advance in your musical field.

Or are looking to get into college level music.

Let’s get into it.

This article is meant for the creators of music not just the performers.

Know the harmonic minor, melodic minor, natural minor, major, and pentatonic scales

So what happens is that all of these things are actually needed in order to develop and create great music.

The reason for that is because these scales will provide a note selection for you so that you can decide the appropriate notes for the song you’re writing.

it helps to know these scales because you will find commonality with different songs and these scales.

Know your basic chord progressions

They help to create songs that are dynamically sound and sonically diverse.

Create chord progressions that are simple but challenge the ears to listen to more.

Usually there is a common practice in music that says, “Create music that sound familiar but not too familiar.”

Because what happens is that if you create a song that is familiar, it will sound really pleasing to the ears. Whereas a song that sounds like something you’ve never heard before, will sound bad.

Which is another reason why it’s recommended to listen to all types of music.

Learn how to use a DAW

in all reality, a musician needs to know how to use a DAW.

A DAW is a Digital Audio Workstation.

A DAW is used to produce, mix, and master music.

Which is what you need to use in order to create music.

Here is a picture of what a DAW looks like with some files in it.

This is actually a picture of a demo that I just sent in.

You need to learn how to mix

There is a saying that goes around and it says, “That a professional is just a person that is really good with the basics.”

So get really good at the basics in mixing and you will go a long way.

I will give you a hint, 90% of all songs are mixed with just 5 effects and a few common practices.

Broadcast
