Hey guys! So today, I’m going to give you guys how I started in music.

Let’s get into it.

When I first started guitar

I remember when I first started guitar, I could pick up simple fundamentals easily.

Things like how to press your hands on the guitar, How to hold the guitar.

And quite frankly anyone can pick those things up.

But when it started to get into the real musical aspects of music.

I was a mess.

If you think that I’m a great musician, I tell you right now that I could not even keep beat when I first started.

When I first started, could you imagine those stereotypical dudes on T.V. Who can’t keep beat or rhythm?

That was literally me.

I remember in those days I felt that keeping beat was so difficult.

I literally said it’s impossible.

And quite frankly I didn’t understand the concepts of keeping beat and keeping rhythm.

And guitar is a rhythm instrument!

How could I be the best guitarist in the world if I couldn’t even do what the guitar was meant to do?

And so at one point, I literally said to my dad, early on in my career, that guitar is impossible.

and he said with a laugh, “Don’t give up.”

And believe it or not, I took that personal. I took the fact that my dad said don’t give up personal.

And I don’t know if it was because he was my dad and I was trying to make him proud, but I became stubborn at keeping beat and keeping rhythm that I started looking up online articles about how to learn to keep beat and rhythm.

And there was one article that really stood out to me and I can’t remember for the life of me what that article was, but it basically said just listen to your favorite music and practice tapping your foot along to the beat.

And so for the next few weeks, I would practice guitar, but after I practiced guitar, I would set aside time in my practicing hours to focus solely on keeping beat.

So for a whole hour of my day, I would listen to music and just practice keeping beat with it.

And I would do that for the next several months.

And I eventually learned how to keep beat.

How I am now

Now, I teach people how to get into college level music.

Now I am trying to get into a major record label, which they’ve already sent me a few emails.

Now, I’ve won awards, and recorded at professional studios and seen some music stuff that is just not available to the public unless you really are a musician.

I can remember the day so clearly of when I almost gave up on music.

I remember that at the time I was getting bullied by some people at school for even playing guitar.

What happens is that I’m Latino and there were a few of my Latino peers who kept saying racist things to me about why I was playing the guitar and instead i should rap and produce hip-hop beats.

Which I do today but that’s besides the point.

But that’s not all, I remember at absolutely everything that I ever did in music, people would challenge me about it.

They would ask me ridiculous questions that a middle school kid would know nothing about and it was always music related.

However, they didn’t know that, that just added fuel to the music fire.

Because at every ridiculous music question I was ever asked, I would learn how to answer and I would learn how to do what they wanted me to do.

And it was in the 8th grade, that I made up my mind that I was going to be the best musician in the school.

So I bought books, and practiced music for hours on end each day and I would get into chorus, and bands, and eventually I just became the musician that I wanted to become.

Don’t give up

Now i tell you musician, don’t give up.

I’m telling you now that dreams can come true.

There was one factor about it all that you need to know about

The Lord was with me all of those days.

I remember in those days there were other things going on too, it wasn’t just music and there were a few days were I was suicidal.

And I remember in those days I was going heavily to church.

And every Sunday, I would just remember those things in church and they would get me through the week.

Now, I am praying to God always.

I am praying to Jesus always.

And now that I’m living my life, I promise you that God makes the world that much more lively.

God made my music world a song that I want to sing each day.
