Hey everyone! So today, I wanted to share with you all some sales techniques and tactics that basically every salesperson should have.

However, there is a reason why I am writing about it in my Christian music blog.

What happens is that sales actually has a lot of the same principles that music has.

And what’s great is that you practice sales skills when you’re a musician.

So if you’re a musician, you can actually pick up sales really easily, I did anyways.

But what qualifies me to teach sales?

I’m glad you asked,

My first year as a salesman I won 2 awards at the company that I worked for.

In a company wide competition, I won the most windows sold in one week. I did that as a new salesman with less than 6 months of experience. I beat the dude who had been there the longest that week and he was also the best guy in the entire company.

There were 60 people fighting for that award and I won it that week.

Also I won another award towards the end of the year called the fastest script race award. Where we saw which person could say the fastest script, I said a really big script in 6.7 seconds and I was the 2nd fastest out of 60 people who said that script.

And at the end of my year working there they released a report of who were the best people in the entire company.

Out of 150 people, I came in 13th place and i beat some assistant managers for most appointments sold.

But that’s not all

I later on went and did sales at other companies.

At a vacation company I was a part time employee.

And in a 24 hour time period, I made as much sales in one week as some full time employees. It was 9

Also I was ranked 20th best in the Nation for the month that month.

I also worked at a major department store and you should know that at that store, they tried to sell credit cards there.

And it was my job to sell credit cards as the cashier.

Now you should know something, the average amount of credit cards sold at any store is 4 to 6 per week.

I was averaging 12

And they promoted me to a different position.

My highest week, I did 16.

So now, what are the lessons that you need in order to be good at sales?

Here they are

Practice your scripts in front of a mirror.

So in most sales jobs, when they train you, they will give you scripts.

Scripts are literally just words that you need to say to the customer in order to get the sale.

They will literally print out these pieces of paper with words on them that are exactly what you need to say.

However, if we were to just memorize scripts left and right, it could sound awkward.

And we wouldn’t say it with proper voice, volume, enthusiasm, diction, etc. etc.

So what you have to do is you need to practice those scripts in front of a mirror and practice those scripts while using different body language and different inflictions of voice and different speeds of speech, and different volumes.

You are supposed to be enthusiastic when you sell something, however, if you practice nothing but enthusiasm in the mirror, you can sound angry when speaking.

So in order to avoid that, you need to practice with different tones of voice and different inflictions.

Scripts, tracks, they are all the same thing.

That’s how you catch your quotas

So they give you those scripts so that you may make your quotas.

And that’s great and all. But as a great salesman that you are, you need to be able to handle more than just scripts.

Because if you’re hearing a customer talk about their problems, you need to be able to do more than just say scripts.

So when you’re in front of a customer, I do not want you to just start thinking about scripts.

What you need to do is listen to the customer and address their problems using the tools that your company gives you.

But communicate, don’t just say the scripts. Talk about them and hear them out.

The scripts are great and they do work. But if you want to excel in your field and if you want to see really big commission checks, then in reality, you need to be saying more than just scripts, you need to be listening and you need to be communicating.
