What strategies do I use to create a following on the internet?

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all the strategy that I use on the internet to get people to notice me. I will also share with you all what a small concentrated following has done for me so far. 

Let’s get into it. 

Create content

It’s no secret that we are in a day and age where content is everywhere. 

I mean I currently have a day job where I am working 50 to 60 hours a week and even they are telling me, actually they are strongly suggesting that I create content for my very own job that I have. 

Like 3 of my managers and even the owner of the company told me that I needed to create content in order to obtain clients, which I will admit, I have had 2 clients with my content and it’s only been a few shorts months and a few short posts. 

But I digress,

What I’m trying to say is that content is everywhere, and I would even argue that if you’re not making content for your business, or your music, or even for school, I would say that you’re being left behind in a digital age where content is king. 

And I get what you’re saying, you’re probably saying, “German, I have no one to look at my content, I am a nobody, I am humble…” blah blah blah, I get it, I was once a nobody too, I once had no followers, and as a matter of fact I even deleted all of my social media for a while and I just refused to interact with all social media. 

But what happens is that (I’m not advertising getting certified in social media management) but I did get certified in social media management and I just learned how to start a following and I will share with you the number one bit of advice that people gave me as a social media manager. 

Actually I will give you the advice that I received that I still follow to this day in order to get between 500 and 700 views per month to my blog. 

And that’s to just create content. 

I don’t care if no one else is looking at your blog or YouTube channel or your Tik-Tok, Just start making content and people will start to show up. 

Now, I’m not promising anything, however, I have my own theory as to why Google and all the other search engines really help people who create a lot of content, I’m not going to share it here because I’ve already talked about it enough on this blog. 

But just know that Google has a really good reason to reward people who post a lot of content. 

But how did I do it?

The number one bit of advice that I was given was to just make content, so that’s literally all I did for the first 2 years of my blog. 

And with that bit of advice, I was able to gain 900 views in a single month to my blog within 2 years. 

It went back down but just know that it’s on the rise again. 

After those 2 years I started to do a little more which I will admit looked like it helped to increase blog views. 

But it was after I had already published several hundred pieces of content on the internet. So I can’t say that it’s those things alone that helped me to gain more views. 

Those things were to put my website on Google Search Console, and add links. 

What does having a small concentrated following do for me as a musician?

You should know that record labels want to see if you have a following on the internet before they sign you. 

They want to see a few other things too. 

However, I have been in professional studios before. 

I have recorded my music professionally before and there were managers in the room at the time that I did those things. 

And the number one question that I was asked was if I had a following. 

At the time I was an unknown artist and I said no, I don’t have a following, and the people just said okay, well go get your following and then talk to us because your music is good we just need to see a little more from you. 

And at the time, I of course didn’t have a following and I never returned with a following but I sometimes wonder what would’ve happened if I did come back with a following. 

Now is a different day, and this time, I went to record labels with this following that I have on the internet. 

I went to them guns blazing and telling them straight up, “Hello! My name is German Gonzalez and I am a musician, I currently have a blog that generates between 500 and 700 views per month, I have around 400 x followers, and musicially I won the 2013 Most Outstanding Music Student award from the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and I want to get signed!!” 

LOL 

That’s literally how I sent a few of my videos to record labels. 

And guess what? One record label emailed me back. 

Actually it was the biggest record label that emailed me back. 

They told me to keep writing songs and to not give up and to not hesitate to send them future music. 

Anyways, that’s what a small following does
