Making of my album

So like many of you know, I am a Christian musician. I have been so for a long time now. I believe that it is God who made me the great guitarist and songwriter that I am today, so I want to give all of that back to him. I wish to create music for him, not to please man’s ears, but rather to please God’s ears. I’ll let you guys in to the making of my album.

I have a few songs

            I have a few songs written down, however, I need to produce them and make them really shine. I have the knowledge to take my music to the next level, it’s just a matter of actually doing so. The expensive part of doing my album is going to be the mastering. I have heard from different people and resources that mastering an album requires a lot of expensive hardware. Also, you have to know what to listen to when using this hardware. But for the first part, songwriting, I have about four songs written down already. I don’t wish to share with you guys what they are called or anything because I want to get them copyrighted first. If I need help, which for the most part I don’t, then I’ll ask my friend who went to school for music and has a minor in music production.

Lyrics

            I am a type of Christian that focuses on writing lyrics that praise or uplift God. I know that some spirituals are good for the soul, however, not every one of them actually worships God. I have heard a few songs on the radio saying good things, but we need to focus on God. I have heard music on the radio stations talking about the injustice in the system of government, which I’m not against, but to be on a Christian radio station I feel like it’s inappropriate. What should be on our minds is worshiping God. I’m not saying that those things are bad to talk about. I completely understand the reason for talking about those things and I fully support those movements, but let’s stick to God on a Christian radio station.

Production

            I am asking God for the direction that he wants the music to take place. I really want to add drums, synthesizers, keys, and guitars into my songs, but I don’t know if God would want me to do such a thing. I have heard that you have to make music without those elements and if you do, then you have to make them with an orchestra arrangement of sorts. I honestly don’t know which way God would want me to create it but whatever way he wants is the way that I want.

Vocals

            I am going to try and sing it all myself. I will of course ask God to help me during this stage because I know that God can do anything. I really want to make good backing vocals and since I’m a guy, I don’t have the timbre that female vocalists have. But it is still something unique and I know that it can sound good too.

            I’m not sure when I’m going to release my first album. Maybe within a year or two, depending on how far my blog gets me.
