I know that living a life for Jesus can be difficult, however, it’s not impossible. Learning things about yourself really is a battle in and of itself. You have to be honest with God, people, and ultimately yourself. I didn’t learn that lesson until it was too late. However, being honest with yourself and people is the first step. I know that being honest with yourself can be a little challenging especially after a lifetime of doing the exact opposite, but be honest with yourself and do your best to not lie. Anyways, let’s talk about why living a life for Jesus has to do with being honest.
If you don’t admit that you’re wrong, you will never be forgiven
In order to be forgiven, you must ask for forgiveness. Who is the first person that we need to ask for forgiveness when we mess up or commit a sin? We need to ask God for forgiveness that’s who.
I remember one day I messed up really bad and my dad said that the first person that I need to ask for forgiveness is God. Why? Because it will be God who guides me out of this moment. It will be God who heals me, it will be God who transforms me into something better.
Also, admitting that you’re wrong is the first step in getting out of denial. Often times when we’re wrong, we deny everything that is presented to us. No matter how convicting or true the statement or motive is, we deny it because we are ashamed of our guiltiness of our sin, we’re ashamed.
The second thing that you’re supposed to do when you’re wrong
The second thing that you’re supposed to do when you’re wrong is to admit it to people. Admit it to the right people about your consequences and sin.
I don’t mean go to everyone and everything and start babbling crazy talk about every last pencil that you stole from the book store. But rather, confess your sins.
You can talk about every last thing that you stole from the bookstore, however, who you share that with has got to be someone special. It can’t be just anyone on the street because not everyone is going to understand your situation and or circumstances.
I personally have that one good friend who I go to whenever I talk about deep personal issues. I can confide in him and I trust that he is saying something good. It’s funny because I thought that I was the only one in the world going through the things that I was going through. However, this life has more people who were treated unfair and hurt than it has people who’s had everything in life. So don’t feel sad about any unfairness, everyone goes through that.
