Nowadays, you don’t really need the help of a record label in order to get you selling your music. You could publish it independently and market it yourself. With online resources and tools that can help you market your music on your own, you don’t really need the help of a record label, as much.

However, a record label could bring in a bigger and more established audience alone with resources that you might not have. Resources to get you writing with the best songwriters or producing with the best producers, etc. etc.

Therefore, here is the ultimate guide to get you into the industry.

This part is for those who don’t even know how to play an instrument or sing, if you already know how to play an instrument and sing, then I suggest you skip this part.

So first off, if you want to play music, you have to play music! Haha! I know that sounds kind of funny but hear me out. In order to get good at anything you need to practice at it. That means that you are going to fail a whole lot of times first before you do anything that anyone can be proud of.

It’s okay to fail, everyone fails. But the thing is that you need to pick yourself back up time and time again. Don’t be discouraged by the fact that you haven’t made an album and you’re only 16. It’s very hard for people to do that.

That’s more so of a gift if you can do something like that. Even if you did do that at 16, you still had to work hard at it, I know that for sure.

Look at me, I am 25 turning 26 and you don’t see me stopping at the fact that I don’t have a whole lot of album sales. No, I am still chasing my dreams and I’m not going to let anything stop me from doing what I’ve always wanted to do, which is to write music for a living.

Anyways, first start off by playing the guitar or piano. I highly recommend either of those instruments because they are very marketable instruments to play. Everyone loves a good guitarist and everyone needs a great piano player. Also learn to sing, singing will help you in the music industry.

Do whatever it takes to learn the things that you want to learn. If your parents say that you need to learn to play the violin first before you learn the guitar, go ahead learn the violin, I’m pretty sure that your parents want you to play the guitar too.

Now that we’ve covered the basics here is where the industry stuff comes in

Now, after years of perfecting your musical abilities, I assume that you can sing at a good level, play the guitar well and play the piano decently. Now, you have to get better at these things.

I know that it’s a long wait before you can make millions of dollars off of your albums, but trust me it’s going to be worth it.

Patience is key in anything that you do, so don’t forget to be patient. Always remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was anyone’s music career. So, keep working on the things that have got you there thus far.

If you’re doing this all on your own, I recommend something

So, with all of the things wrong that can happen in the music industry, I know for a fact that it’s always good to have a fall back. Keep something in line for you just in case this whole music gig doesn’t work out.

I personally have two jobs that are very promising and also am going to college while working on my music and my blog. I know that it seems like a lot to do, but it will be worth it.

I also recommend on building up all the skills that you have. Take in to account of all of the skills that you have. Not just music skills.

I never knew that typing would benefit me as a musician. Typing has benefited me as a musician so many times for the past year and 3 months. I type on a daily basis and I type for music.

I know that this was more of a music blog post than anything but I hope that if anyone out there wants to change their lives. If you want God in your life. Then pray to him. If you have any questions about God, then ask away or you can pray to God himself. His response is more accurate than mines.

Thank you all for listening in on this blog post. I hope that I have been an inspiration and a hope to you all. Please pray, read your bible, go to church, and love God above all else. Like, comment, share, and subscribe and I will see you all next time. German Gonzalez, signing out!
