Ahh, DAW’s the epitome of a music producers tool set. The ultimate thing that a music producer needs in order to make music. Ranging from free to 7000 dollars, there’s a DAW for every level of producer.

Let’s talk about what are the best DAW’s for music production

Different types of DAW’s

A DAW (Short for digital audio workstation) is a software where you can create music. Usually a DAW has virtual instruments and plugins that you can use to mix, master, edit, record and design music with.

There are certain DAW’s that are better for mixing, there are some better for DJing and some better for Production. In all essence, they are all the same, just some of their features are a little different.

Here is a list of DAWS. I know it’s from Wikipedia but you can still find relevant DAWS n this link.

My DAW

So, my DAW is actually Studio one. I love studio one because I wanted something that was good for beginners.

I remember back when I first started out, I asked the guitar center dude just which DAW was the best for music production and he said, they all do the same thing it’s just minor tweaks in every software.

So I said to him, which one is the best for beginners? And he said, “Studio One”

So I went with Studio one and I never went back.

I know that there are some DAW’s out there that are preferred by Studio musicians and DJ’s but the latest versions of Studio one are AMAZING.

You can DJ with Studio one professional, also annotate with standard notation, tabs, and regular producing software and tracks. I absolutely love that about Studio one.

Other types of DAWS

Ableton

I have seen quite a few people teaching from the Ableton software.

I personally don’t like it because all of the faders are really small and you have to have very surgical like hand motions in order to move the cursor around.

But nonetheless, I’ve also seen big time DJ’s performing with Ableton. Actually I learned how to mix on Ableton.

Also some of their stock plugins are exactly the sound that you need for a more modern music production.

Pro tools

I have heard that Pro tools is the recommended software for studios. Most studio have Pro Tools because it gives that analog feel to it, it’s not as digital as most DAW’s

The problem with Pro Tools is that it requires a big interface.

The interface is the console that you plug into your computer in order to get awesome acoustic sounds.

The interface is actually the reason why a lot of home producer don’t get Pro Tools because it takes up too much space.

Great for that sound that you want from an older recording, but not practical.

I know I sound biased

I know I sound biased because I have never owned ableton or pro tools, but for what it’s worth, Studio one hasn’t given me any problems, except for some minor things, but either way, my laptop can fix all of that.

I actually haven’t upgraded my laptop since 2014 and it’s still running the new versions of Studio One.

I will admit, that sometimes it bugs out on me, but either way, I think that the combination of computer and software and hardware that I have is sick!

Hey guys! Here is a link to some music theory that you should use as a music producer. The reason why I included this link here is because it helps to have the right technology when you’re producing music. However, that technology doesn’t matter unless you know how to use it appropriately. So I included music theory in this blog post to help you guys create memorable music.

Broadcast

I hope that I have inspired some people to take action in their music production career. I know that God can use the talent which he gives you so always be looking out as to how God can help you with your career.

If you want to learn more about how God can help you, then pray to him and God will always show you the right way.

Thank you all for listening in on this blog post. I hope that I have been an inspiration and a hope to you all. Please pray, read your bible, go to church, and love God above all else. Like, comment, share, subscribe, and I will see you all next time. German Gonzalez, signing out!

I know that there are whole plethora of DAWS out there. This wasn’t meant to be an exhaustive list. But you can use all daws for the same things, it’s just minor differences. If you really want to learn how to produce or mix, then you’ll learn on any DAW
