You’ve hit some bad times and now life is really hard. You hit a bump in the road except this bump left you jobless. You tried to do something for God and now you can’t manage to pay the bills.

I get it, we’ve all been there as Christians. Life does get hard even for Christians. Just because we accept Jesus into our lives, does not mean that we are now immune to the atrocities of the world.

It does not mean that we’re not going to get tried and tested for just being a man.

However, brighten up! Cheer up! Our God has conquered the world and has given us victory over all of the evil things of the world.

With that being said, here are some things that I do whenever I am struggling as a Christian.

Take a breath and slow down.

So, when we’re in the heat of the moment, everything may seem like it’s just bad. We might be angry, upset, sleep-deprived, hungry, etc. etc.

At these moments, it’s especially important that we slow down, take a deep breath, and remind ourselves that God is in control.

My dad always told me, “Never make any decisions while you’re angry.”

Why? Because my dad has been there too. My dad knows what it’s like to have the whole world seem like it’s crushing you under it’s weight.

Therefore, we need to calm ourselves and just remind ourselves that God is in control.

Go for a walk

I often times get angry at the whole world and I can’t help myself.

This is often the times when I just get out of the house. I don’t want anything to do with my parents, I don’t want anything to do with my family, I  just want to be with me, myself, and I.

So, I just go out and just start walking and I go wherever my feet may carry me. I have sometimes walked around 12 miles in a single day.

The most that I’ve ever walked was 26 miles in a day. I also ran 3 miles in between there because I wanted to exercise, but that’s just me. So, in total, I was on my feet for about 29 miles.

However, that’s not when I’m mad at the world or anything like that. Those days when I walked the whole city was when I had to go to work.

Say a Godly affirmation

When the going gets rough, you get closer to God. That’s actually a phrase that I made up myself.

Say things that are unique to your situation, your perspective, and who you are.

If what you say is a lot of street lingo, then use it when you say those Godly affirmations but of course without the cursing.

“I know my God’s got my back.” “I know that God can handle this.” “God will guide me throughout all of my life.” These are all good things that you can say to yourself whenever you’ve hit a stumbling block.

Sing songs

The bible specifically states that the kind David actually had someone sing him songs whenever he was troubled by spirits.

Therefore, we are no greater than king David.

If we ever need to sing ourselves some songs to get us through the day, then sing yourself a song.

            However, not just any song.

Sing a song about God. An inspiring song. A song that puts conviction into your heart and a pep in your step. Remind yourself that God never fails.

A lot of times, I have been troubled really hard about things in life. However, I just start to sing songs and I eventually forget about what it is that I’m lost about.

Just the other day, I left all mad at my dad because he didn’t help me out with something that would’ve been simple. He acted as if though I just needed to toughen up and do it on my own. I didn’t like that.

Then I just started walking and I started singing songs to get my head into good space.

Sure enough, my bad thoughts went away and I came back home a happier guy.
