Hey everyone! So, there are some cool things happening to my music. For years, I have prayed to God to help me write my music and now, I am learning how to write really great music.

One of the things that I’ve recently learned is that you can use poetic and literary devices to your advantage when writing lyrics to your song.

It’s really cool and I’ll explain to you guys what those things mean, but first let’s have our moment of silence and pray for all of the things in our lives.

At this moment in time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray for all of the things in our lives. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for all of the things in your lives.

Now back to the show

What are poetic and Literary Devices?

Poetic and literary devices are things that help enhance our lyrics and poetry. They put art into our music with words.

I don’t want to say that they make our words sound “deeper”, but in a sense they do.

I just would like to say that if anyone has deep words, it’s because God has given you deep words. The deepness of one’s words come from God, we as Christians must believe that God is the source of our words.

The deep words that we make in our lyrics can be practiced too.

But above all, they make the song flavorful. They make the song imaginable.

It takes abstract thoughts and paints a picture that will get the audience smelling, singing, laughing, seeing, and ultimately feeling.

I just recently discovered these terms and I couldn’t get enough of them.

I started practicing a few of them on my own.

There’s a conceit and that’s when the metaphor is extended all throughout the song.

I absolutely loved that!

I thought that, that was a brilliant way to paint a picture.

So, I started to write conceits. Well I only really wrote one conceit but it sounded so good to me that I’m going to try and make a song out of it.

There’s Imagery, and that’s when you use words that have a picture to paint a picture of the things that you are trying to describe.

I’ve recently started to imply those two Poetic devices into my own lyrics and poems and I believe that they’re coming out really nice.
