Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all the best way to pick the right people for your album.

Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the person that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for these things.

Now back to the show

How to choose the right people for your album? Step 1 the songwriter

As songwriters, we are supposed to pick people who are like minded in what we talk about.

If you’re a singer, it’s important to do either one of two things.

Either stick with the same genre that you write about

            Or,

You need to pick someone who can do a dynamic difference in what you write about.

This is the reason why we see a lot of singers partnering up with rappers to write a song.

If you’re sticking with the same genre, make sure that the flow is the same.

When I say flow, I essentially mean the rhythm.

Now that advice isn’t necessarily set in stone, of course you can have different rhythms and melodies when writing with different people, but the reason why I say to do that is because if you take some of the pop hits that have other pop artists writing in them, you’ll notice that if it’s two pop artists, then their verses will be usually the same rhythm and melody.

It’s not saying that you’re not creative enough to write your own rhythm and melody, it’s just that it sounds really hooky to the listener which in turn causes a positive reaction from the crowd.

It’s nothing against you, it’s just psychology.

Make sure that you’re talking about the same thing too. Just because you’re different artists doesn’t mean that you can go ahead and talk about whatever you want.

Step 2 the producer

Usually when we’re writing music, we want a producer who is experienced in producing the songs that we want to write.

Therefore, if you want to write a rock album, get a rock producer.

No matter what, each producer probably has experience doing a little bit of all types of music, so if you want to get a rapper on your album, it’s safe to say that, that producer is alright to use.

And if you really do have the money to hire a different producer for that rap song, then go ahead and use that money to get the producer.

However, if you’re on a budget, a single producer will suffice.

Step 3 the post-production engineers

Ahh mixing and mastering, yes some people say that mixing is the coolest part of the production process.

It’s an art form to mix great songs, therefore, you need an artist who can mix your songs appropriately.

Like the producer, if you’re a rock musician, then get a rock mixing engineer.

There are some people out there who claim that they can mix every genre of music.

However, those guys are old and probably cost a fortune and a half to hire.

If you ever find someone who has just started mixing and claim that they can do it all, they are probably lying to you because it takes years of experience to develop the ear for a rock mixing engineer and another few years to develop the ear for a hip-hop engineer.

And then you have Country, R&B, Rap, Metal, etc. etc. There’s EDM, There’s Pop, all of those genre’s take different skillsets and tools to mix.

Conclusion

So in general, you want to gather people who talk about similar things that you talk about. You want to get people who will have the same vision that you have because it just makes for a really cohesive album.
