Ahh careers, everyone loves talking about new and exciting career opportunities.

Before we get started on this blog post, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to guide us. Ask God to give us a good sense of what it means to actually be a Christian musician. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

A realistic expectation from a Christian music career.

So I don’t want to sound grandiose or high and mighty.

But I don’t want to sound like I’m belittling the music industry.

I want to say that everyone in the world can make a decent living doing the things that they love because I believe that’s true.

I want to tell you that you can make millions of dollars doing the things that you love, but at the same time, I can’t tell you that because I don’t know you or I don’t know your situation.

And even though if we ask God for things he will give it to us if it’s according to his will, there are just so many variables that are out there that can alter how much you make or what your career will look like.

Ultimately, God is in control of everything and it requires wisdom to obtain riches.

But I get it, you are here for a realistic expectation as to what you can get from a Christian music career.

Though millions of dollars a year could be out of your reach, maybe 100k might not be.

Anyways, let’s talk about this.

The bible has verses relating to riches and wealth.

So the bible actually has methods of getting rich through God.

And ultimately, getting rich through God is the best way to get rich because God will only give us PERFECT things.

So I’m pretty sure that if you google verses that talk about money, you will find some of the verses that I’m talking about.

But, if you want a brief few verses, here they are. “In all labour there is profit: But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.”

It clearly states that in Proverbs 14:23 that “in all LABOUR there is profit: but the talk of lips tendeth only to penury.”

That means that you could work in whatever it is that you want to work in, INCLUDING MUSIC, and you could make money off of it.

Let’s read another one from Haggai 2:8 it states, “ The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.”

That literally means that if we want money, we need to ask God for it because he is the ruler of all money.

Let’s read another one

Proverbs 10:4 states, “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”

Proverbs 3:13-17 states, “13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”

So now, we understand that we need wisdom in order to gain riches.

So with all combined there are a few elements that you should know. Money isn’t the most important thing that there is.

Money can’t buy happiness, it can’t buy security, it can’t buy peace, it can’t give you a heart of gold, it can’t do things that are truly important for US.

Therefore, if we pray that God may make us rich, we have to pray that God makes us HOLY rich people. Ask God to make us holy rich people. People that chase after his causes. Rich people that confide in him above their money. Rich people who donate to charities and rich people who set their treasures in HEAVEN instead of earth. For wherever our treasure is, there will also be our hearts.

So what is a realistic expectation for a Christian music career?

Let’s look at another few bible verses. In these bible verses Jesus was saying that hardly shall a rich man enter into the kingdom of God. and then one of his disciples asked him, “who then can enter into the kingdom of God?” and Jesus replied, “with man this is impossible but with God all things are possible.”

That was in Matthew 19: 23-26

Of course it’s not saying that no one can go to heaven, it is just trying to say of how impossible it is for man to try and get to heaven on his own. Anyone in the entire world can go to heaven, that’s why Jesus died.

And he said it in John 3:16 and it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor or anything in between, God wants everyone in heaven.

Anyways back to the topic. The point is that with God “all things are possible.”

So with God, you can make a good living off of your music.

That’s the realistic expectation, you can make a good living off of your music.

I want to urge you to PURSUE whatever dream you have.

I want to encourage you to chase after your dreams. Dreams take a long time to achieve. However, if you have a dream and it’s good, God will not deny that dream. God is good and he gives good things to good people if he sees that they deserve it.

My dream is to make a living off of my music. And I honestly think that the Lord wants me to have that.

I’m not guaranteeing anything. But pray to God for direction and he will always guide you.

I sure hope that I have been an inspiration and a hope to you all. Please remember to pray, read your bible, go to church, and love God above all else. Like, comment, share, subscribe, and I will see you all next time.

If you want to go to heaven, then believe in Jesus and you will go to heaven. (John 3:16)
