Why having God is absolutely essential to the Christian musician

Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all why having God is absolutely essential to the musician. 

Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence. 

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to follow him throughout all of our lives. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Why having God is absolutely essential to the musician?

So there are actually a lot of principles that God gives in the bible that actually reflect a lot in the musicians life. 

Let’s go over some of these principles.

Matthew 6:25-33 

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

In these verses, Jesus is specifically talking to his followers and he says to take no thought for your life because God is the one who holds your life in his hands. 

And that’s a principle that we as musicians, really everyone, should have in our hearts. 

Because music, like with any other business there is, is very unpredictable and can alter our ways and just cause us to shift to and from different directions all the time. 

Therefore, we cannot worry about anything but pray about everything. And who are we going to rely upon for these things, none other than God. 

You have to trust that your music can make you money

Proverbs 14:23 states, “In all labour there is profit, but the talk of lips tendeth only to penury.”

This is saying and giving us assurance that music is a completely possible way to actually make money. 

This is giving us assurance that yes we can make money and yes we can do great things with music. 

But above trusting in yourself, the reason why it would be sin to think anything different would be because it’s promised in the bible. 

It’s promised in the bible that we can make money with our music and if it’s in the bible, than we need nothing else. 

He gives us reason to make music

The purpose of music is to worship the Lord with it. 

That’s the bottom line with it. 

And let me tell you guys something. 

There have been people in the music industry who have had success in the music field and they end up committing suicide because they find no reason to do it. 

And I understand that, I understand the fact that there is no reason for doing things unless it has a greater purpose. 

And that’s the reason why we need God as musicians, it gives us a purpose to actually do music. 

He gives us a reason to make a happy song, he gives us a reason to actually write because if it wasn’t for him, it would be vain, all of the songs in the world would’ve been vain.

He gives life to the songs that are out there. 

And everyone has heard that saying that says, “money isn’t everything” 

Well I’m just letting you guys know that, that is true. 

Money isn’t everything and it can’t get you the most important things in life.

It can’t buy you security, peace, happiness, love, life, health, It can’t buy you the things that make you whole. 

I actually learned that from my mom, she’s so wise, kids listen to your parents. 

And You have to realize that God does give purpose to all of us, so seek God because he gives purpose for each of us.
