Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to give you guys a little insight about prayers.

Before we get started, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to trust in him. Ask God to guide us more towards him each day. And to develop our faith in him. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

Does God answer prayers immediately?

So I think that this question, though valid, is a little bit unlearned.

Let’s take into account a few things that need to happen in order for God to answer your prayers.

And I will use myself as an example.

Music

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a musician so badly.

And honestly, all of the reasons for wanting to be a musician revolved around money, power, strength, women, lusts, etc. etc.

All vain things.

And that was when I was a kid.

And when I was a kid, I asked the Lord to give me music.

I asked and I prayed to God to give me music and to make me a musician.

And sure enough the Lord made me a musician However, it wasn’t immediately that the Lord answered.

So what happens is that I started praying when I was 6 years old.

I started praying to God for music when I was 6 years old.

And I got a guitar and a piano back then, but they weren’t the things that I wanted, I wanted an electric guitar!

And so I prayed again for God to provide an electric guitar.

And this time, he answered again, except this time, it was 5 years later.

My father bought me an electric guitar from wal-mart and I was so THRILLED by it.

And I played the MESS out of that guitar.

I literally would play the strings so much, that my guitar teachers were recommending that I changed my strings EVERY DAY.

For those of you that don’t know, a beginner guitarists should be changing their strings once a month. And if you really play a lot, then once every TWO WEEKS.

But I was playing so much, that my guitar teachers were telling my that my string bill was going to be SOO HIGH, haha, I never did that though, and instead, I would play the guitar with rusty guitar strings.

I actually had to learn how to CLEAN the guitar strings, which is something that’s not recommended to do because if your guitar strings ever get dirty, you are to replace them.

So God gave me an electric guitar but it was 5 years later.

And throughout those 5 years, I had actually grown closer to God.

I grew to want to go to church and listen to the gospel.

And I matured in so many ways, from listening to my parents more often, to just wanting to be a musician.

And I realized then that I still wanted to become a rockstar, but I wanted to be a holy rockstar.

And I set it in my heart, and I put it above everything else that I was, that I was going to use music for the worship of God.

And I would NOT have done that, if I was 6 years old with an Electric guitar.

And I know myself, I’ll be honest with you, I was trying to lie to God. I was trying to lie to him to make me a musician for holy purposes, but in reality, I wanted it for vain purposes.

`So God waited until I was 11 years old to give me an electric guitar because he knew that when I turned 11, I would bring glory to him through music.

That reason is holy and perfect.

Let’s keep going with another prayer

Jobs

I’ll be honest here, every job that I ever had, I always said I was going to do something Godly with that job.

And I would promise the world: I would buy food for the poor, I would buy clothes for the poor, I would write Christian music for God, I would work really hard, and sometimes I would keep those promises, more often not than yes.

And what happens is that I see now that God gave me those jobs because he wanted me to be responsible with the resources he gave me.

He wanted me to be responsible with the gifts that he gave me.

And I see that now, but I didn’t see it then.

Actually back then, I just thought that God wanted me to use it for the edification of me.

But now, I see that God wants me to use it for the edification of his kingdom.

That’s wisdom that I actually just got today.

And the Lord has blessed me so many times with jobs and he continues to bless me with jobs today.

And God, honestly, would answer my petitions sometimes immediately, like one day, I quit a job and I literally started praying to God IMMEDIATELY for another job in a TRADE.

And then, not 15 minutes later, I got a call from my dad and he said that a family friend needed a helper for floor installation.

My how I felt blessed.

So God can answer immediately, but it has to be in God’s will.

And trust that if he doesn’t answer immediately, then just trust that it’s not in his plans for you to have a job.

Trust in his plans above all else.

Another time God answered in patience and immediately.

So what happens is that I prayed to God to make me PHYSICALLY strong.

And I trusted in God that he would do it.

And I started praying for that when I was around 6 years old as well.

And finally, when I turned 18, my friend wanted to show me how to lift weights.

And he was in the army, he was a great wrestler, he was a great American football player.

And Virginia wrestling is amongst the best in the nation.

And he showed me,

And it was through him that I actually became physically strong.

But I had to wait 12 years for that prayer to come true.

And might I say that it was perfect.

I had to rely on God to protect me throughout all of those years, and he did.

But more recently, I started praying to God to make me physically strong. And sure enough, he started to give me strength to go on runs.

For those of you that don’t know, running is one of the only exercises where your entire body is activated.

And that was recently.

So God gave me INTERNAL strength to go and exercise on my own. And that was almost immediately.

So what I’m trying to say is that God can answer immediately or not. And sometimes God could say no. If something that you want is something ungodly, then God would say no to that. But sometimes, God wants you to wait on him. Wait on his perfect response because his responses are perfect.

Hey guys, here is an example of what true worship looks like.
