Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all the role of EDM in the lives of a Christian musician.
Let’s get into it.
The elements of music
So there are a few elements in music that you should be aware of.
And it’s these elements in music that really differentiate the good musicians from the best musicians.
And the element that some people say is arguably the best element is the rhythm element.
The rhythm element can really make and elevate a song from amateurish to great.
And that’s something that EDM does right.
In case you don’t know what EDM is, it’s Electronic Dance Music.
I guess some of you might call it something else.
Some people might call it house music, some people might call it Techno, but really those are older versions of EDM.
EDM has evolved from House music and Techno and has transformed into EDM.
Sometimes EDM has lyrics, but for the most of the time, it’s not lyrical.
And I feel like everyone actually should have a good understanding of EDM because it’s so rhythmically diverse that it just incorporates a new dynamic into your songs.
Not only that, but you also learn to create great melodies that could act as hooks in your songs in a lyrical form or a non lyrical form.
Take EDM as a practice
If you’re a Christian musician, EDM shouldn’t take the centerstage of your music productions, however, it should take the form of practice in your music.
Not only does most of modern Christian music that’s on the radio use elements in EDM, but it’s also useful in your development as a Producer.
I actually take different genres and fuse them into my own production.
I take elements from hip-hop, pop, country, rock , and I use them all to my own advantage.
And believe it or not, that’s a practice that many people in the music industry use to make great productions.
Do not be afraid to get out of your genre.
If you only stick to your genre, it could make for a very boring and repetitive album or career.
Say for example Blues, Blues uses a lot of 7 chords, where pop sticks to Major and Minor chords.
But if you put those two together, you get a really cool sound like alternative or country.
