Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to share with you all my process behind creating Christian songs.
Let’s get into it.
Chords
So the first thing that I usually come up with are chords.
The reason why Is because I feel like it gives me a really solid foundation as to where I want the melody to go along with.
It feels comfortable and it feels right when I pick the right notes on the guitar and the right chords.
So my process behind creating songs usually means that I create the chords first.
And if you don’t know what a chord is, it’s basically a group of three or more notes played simultaneously.
It’s fun playing chords and they make for great campfire songs.
So I usually create the chords first, and it’s usually between 2 and 4 chords long is what the song will have.
The theory behind music is that you start at home and you end at home.
And home is usually the one chord.
The one chord for me is usually the major chord that I start out with.
But it can be another chord too.
It just depends on how you shape the song.
The melody
So i’ve actually gravitated towards creating a stagnant melody in the verses and an ascending and descending melody in the choruses.
The reason for this is because it just sounds appealing to my ears.
But it’s also a theory in music theory to create stagnant melodies in the verses and use the ascending and descending melodies in the choruses.
You can also do vice versa, use ascending and descending melodies in the verses and use stagnant melodies in the choruses.
There is one other type of melody but I really don’t use it all that much.
It’s the jagged melody , I don’t like that one too much.
But it can be very powerful to use it.
The Lyrics
My lyrics focus only on God
My Lyrics, I write to please God.
So I will often write songs and poems that will please the Lord in order to create better lyrics.
It’s a practice to being able to write great lyrics, but if you write poems every single day, then you will have a great foundation to being able to create great lyrics.
And that’s basically how I create a song
Of course there are other elements that I didn’t go into like transitions and hooks, but of course, you’ll pick up those things along the way.
