Hey everyone! So today, I wanted to share with you all what it’s like juggling both music and work.
Let’s get into it.
It’s actually a lot of fun
Sometimes when I’m packed with the 40 to 60 hour work week and I’m trying to meet my deadlines with music and creating content, it feels like I’m living the reality of one of those day in the life videos where you see the day in the life of a college athlete or something like that.
It makes me feel good having a busy schedule.
I remember back when I didn’t have too much of a busy schedule. It was actually a little painful for me to not do anything on the side.
Or having too much free time on my hands.
I didn’t like having that.
I felt as if though there was something missing and that I needed to just do more.
So that’s the reason why I was working 2 part time jobs for a bit.
I worked in those 2 part time jobs, went to college, and wrote in this blog because it felt better to keep your mind occupied.
I think I’m going to do a video one of these days showcasing my day in the life.
But the thing about it is that I want to wake up early in the mornings and go to sleep early because in the early mornings the gym is completely free.
And I can get more workout in the gym in the early mornings compared to the late afternoon rush that usually happens in the afternoon.
Plus, I love the feeling of hitting a lifting session in the morning, it feels like i have more to do.
Afterwards going to work and then ending the day off with writing in my blog and music.
That is actually the ideal situation for me.
But then again there are other things in my life that are occupying my time.
Things such as pool.
I have to make time for pool.
I just recently started getting really good at pool.
Like just the other day I ran out a pool table with almost the entire table still in place.
Then I ran out the pool table twice with the table almost gone.
So like, yeah This is such an exciting time in my life.
I’m peaking at almost everything that I do.
The Lord has blessed me.
Let me share with you all a bible verse that the Lord has guarded in my heart.
Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
I will be honest with you all. I don’t mean to pick up new things in my life.
As a matter of fact in pool, I didn’t care too much to learn it at first.
But I know that the Lord has worked hard in my life before, in music, in sales, in all that I laid my hands on.
And so when I picked up the cue stick, I prayed to God.
I prayed and I said, “Lord let me witness you work one more time.”
And I prayed to God to make me a good pool player.
And years later he completed that for me.
I know I can go far in whatever I lay my hands on, but not because I’m smart or strong or wise or anything that could make a man great.
It’s because the Lord Jesus gave me skill and strength and ability in my hands and he blessed me.
I remember I saw a rich man on the internet one of these days.
And I started to think to myself, “he does have Lamborghini’s and Mansions.”
But does he have guitar skills like me? Does he have sales skills like me? Can he play pool like me? I thought to myself, “Can he lift my weights?”
You see there is an important lesson in all of this.
You can be blessed and not have that much money.
And you can have money and not be blessed.
Because I looked at this rich man and I saw all the awful things he was involved in and I said, “That money is not a blessing if it brings it to that.”
Why can you be blessed and not have money?
It’s because money isn’t the only blessing in life.
Here is a secret that you should know as a musician.
You could have the most expensive guitar teacher ever.
I mean you could have Jimmy Hendrix as your Guitar teacher.
You could have Jimmy Paige or Slash as your guitar teacher.
You could have the best guitarists in the world and spend one million dollars a month on your guitar teacher, but you will not become a great guitarist unless you give a piece of yourself up.
Unless you do something that is priceless and that is to go through the hardwork that’s needed to become a guitarist yourself.
And that can’t be taught.
Well actually it can be taught, but it requires discipline, and strength, the strength to be humble, the strength to listen.
and you know this is true because otherwise every millionaire in the world would be a guitarist.
Why don’t all of the millionaires in the world do something cool like become a wrestler, or pool player, or guitarist? It’s because all of that money can’t get them that.
It’s funny because years ago, I was obsessed with money. And i wanted money so badly to enjoy what I thought was good things in life
and i told my mom this and she said, “Money can’t buy you happiness.”
And I said, “Yeah but it’ll leave you a block from there.”
And she said, Money can’t buy you the important things in life.
and I said like what?
She said, “Peace, it can’t buy you peace.”
And I said okay, “It also can’t buy you security.”
No amount of money in the world can keep you safe, every security guard can get bribed, every security camera can fail.
and she said, and there are so much more that money can’t buy.
and I said, “I don’t believe it.”
She said with a smile, “trust me.”
I don’t know if this is something that my mom is telling me because she came from a wealthy family in El Salvador. Or because she herself is well off right now.
But I took it to heart, and now years later, I realize that she was right and I’m a prime example of having awesome things without money.
I’m not going to say I’m without money because the Lord has blessed my hands in finances as well , he gives me jobs after jobs after jobs and he blesses my hands in work as well, not just hobbies.
But the key here is that it’s the Lord who blesses my hands in the work that I do. I cannot take the credit for all the work that I do, for everything I’m ever good at, I pray to God for it.
All hail the Lord who lives on high.
