Glorifying Jesus: Why Jesus Christ Deserves Our Praise, Worship, and Devotion

There are many things in this world that can capture our attention. We can spend our lives pursuing success, money, recognition, relationships, possessions, careers, and personal accomplishments. These things can have their proper place, but none of them can compare with the glory of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is worthy of our attention.

Jesus is worthy of our worship.

Jesus is worthy of our praise.

Jesus is worthy of our lives.

To glorify Jesus means to recognize His greatness, honor His name, worship Him, obey Him, and point others toward Him. It means understanding that Jesus is not simply an important person from history. He is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords.

When we look at Jesus, we see God’s love demonstrated toward humanity. We see grace extended toward sinners. We see compassion toward the broken. We see truth spoken with courage. We see humility, holiness, mercy, sacrifice, and love.

Jesus Christ deserves to be glorified because of who He is and because of what He has done.

Jesus Is the Son of God

At the heart of Christianity is the identity of Jesus Christ.

Jesus was not merely a teacher offering good advice. He was not merely a prophet pointing people toward God. Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He came into the world to accomplish God’s plan of salvation.

The Gospel of John begins by describing Jesus as the Word who was with God and who was God. John then explains that the Word became flesh and lived among humanity.

This is one of the most beautiful truths of Christianity.

God came near.

Jesus entered our world.

He experienced human life. He became tired. He experienced hunger. He experienced sorrow. He formed relationships with ordinary people. He walked among people who were suffering.

The Creator entered His creation.

That truth alone gives Christians an extraordinary reason to glorify Jesus.

Jesus Shows Us the Character of God

When we look at Jesus, we see God’s character revealed.

Jesus demonstrated compassion toward people who were hurting. He welcomed people whom society often rejected. He showed mercy toward sinners. He confronted hypocrisy. He defended truth. He taught people to forgive and love their enemies.

Jesus was both compassionate and courageous.

He could speak gently to a hurting person and firmly confront religious hypocrisy.

He could welcome children while challenging powerful people.

He could forgive sinners while also calling them to repentance.

Jesus never compromised truth in order to appear popular.

His love was not weak.

His compassion was not superficial.

His mercy did not mean that sin did not matter.

Jesus demonstrated what holy love looks like.

Jesus Came to Save

One of the greatest reasons to glorify Jesus is His mission of salvation.

Humanity has a problem that cannot be solved merely through education, wealth, politics, self-improvement, or human achievement.

Sin separates humanity from God.

The Christian message is that Jesus came to deal with that problem.

He did not come merely to make people more successful.

He came to save.

Jesus said that He came to seek and save the lost.

That statement reveals the heart of His mission.

Jesus came for people who were spiritually lost.

He came for people who had made mistakes.

He came for people who were ashamed.

He came for people who had wandered away from God.

He came for people who knew they needed forgiveness.

And He came for people who did not yet understand how deeply they needed Him.

That is why the name of Jesus is so precious to Christians.

Jesus is not merely offering advice.

He offers salvation.

Jesus Died on the Cross

The cross is at the center of the Christian faith.

Jesus willingly endured suffering and death on behalf of humanity.

The cross demonstrates the seriousness of sin, but it also demonstrates the incredible depth of God’s love.

Jesus could have avoided the suffering.

Instead, He willingly surrendered Himself.

He was mocked.

He was beaten.

He was rejected.

He was crucified.

Yet the story does not end with the cross.

The cross points toward the resurrection.

Jesus’ sacrifice demonstrates a love that is difficult to comprehend.

He did not die because humanity deserved His sacrifice.

He died because of grace.

This is why Christians can look at the cross and worship.

The cross reminds us that God’s love is not merely an idea.

It was demonstrated through sacrifice.

Jesus Rose From the Dead

If the cross were the end of the story, Christianity would have no foundation.

But Jesus rose from the dead.

The resurrection is one of the central claims of Christianity.

Jesus conquered death.

He appeared to His followers after His resurrection, and His disciples went into the world proclaiming the Gospel.

The resurrection gives Christians hope.

Death does not have the final word.

Sin does not have the final word.

Failure does not have the final word.

Jesus has the final word.

Because Christ rose from the dead, Christians have hope for eternal life.

That is another reason Jesus deserves our praise.

He is the risen Savior.

Jesus Forgives

There are few things more beautiful than forgiveness.

Many people carry guilt from their past.

They remember decisions they wish they could change.

They remember words they wish they had never spoken.

They remember relationships they damaged.

They remember sins they wish they could erase.

The Gospel offers something remarkable: forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Jesus does not tell us that our sins are meaningless.

Instead, He offers redemption.

He invites people to repent, believe, and receive forgiveness.

The Christian does not have to spend the rest of life pretending to be perfect.

We can come honestly before God.

We can confess our sins.

We can seek forgiveness.

We can receive grace.

Jesus gives people the opportunity to begin again.

Jesus Gives Hope

The world can be filled with uncertainty.

People experience financial difficulties, broken relationships, disappointment, loneliness, grief, failure, and fear.

Sometimes circumstances change quickly.

Yet Jesus offers a hope that is deeper than temporary circumstances.

Christian hope is not based on believing that everything will always go according to our plans.

It is based on knowing Christ.

Jesus promised to be with His followers.

That means we do not have to walk through life alone.

When circumstances change, Jesus remains faithful.

When people disappoint us, Jesus remains faithful.

When our plans fail, Jesus remains faithful.

When we do not understand what is happening, Jesus remains worthy of trust.

That is a powerful reason to glorify Him.

Jesus Teaches Us How to Love

Jesus taught His followers to love God and love other people.

That sounds simple, but it is revolutionary.

Human beings naturally tend to prioritize themselves.

We can become consumed with our own success, our own opinions, our own desires, and our own comfort.

Jesus calls us toward something greater.

He teaches us to serve.

He teaches us to forgive.

He teaches us to care for others.

He teaches us to love our enemies.

He teaches us to show compassion.

He teaches us to put our faith into action.

When we live this way, we glorify Jesus because our lives begin to reflect His character.

Jesus Is Worth Following

Glorifying Jesus is not simply about singing songs about Him on Sunday.

It is about following Him every day.

Jesus called people to become His disciples.

Discipleship means learning from Jesus and allowing His teachings to shape our lives.

It means asking questions such as:

How would Jesus want me to treat this person?

How can I demonstrate love?

How can I forgive?

How can I serve?

How can I honor God with my decisions?

How can I represent Christ well?

Following Jesus does not mean that Christians become perfect overnight.

It means we continue growing.

We fall.

We repent.

We learn.

We get back up.

We continue walking with Christ.

Jesus Deserves Our Worship

Worship is more than music.

Music can certainly be an incredible expression of worship. Singing about Jesus, playing instruments, writing songs, and gathering with other believers can glorify God.

But worship also happens through everyday life.

We worship when we pray.

We worship when we serve.

We worship when we forgive.

We worship when we obey God’s Word.

We worship when we help someone who is hurting.

We worship when we choose integrity instead of dishonesty.

We worship when we give generously.

We worship when we use our gifts to serve others.

Our entire lives can become an offering of worship to God.

Jesus Is Worthy Even When Life Is Difficult

One of the deepest forms of worship is praising Jesus even when circumstances are difficult.

It is easy to praise God when everything is going well.

It is harder when prayers seem unanswered.

It is harder when dreams do not happen.

It is harder when relationships fall apart.

It is harder when we experience disappointment.

Yet Jesus remains worthy.

His worth does not depend on whether our circumstances are comfortable.

Jesus is still Lord when life is difficult.

Jesus is still Savior when we are confused.

Jesus is still faithful when we cannot see the future.

Jesus is still worthy of praise when we are waiting for answers.

That kind of faith glorifies Christ deeply.

Jesus Gives Meaning to Our Lives

People spend enormous amounts of time searching for purpose.

Some believe their purpose is found in a career.

Others believe it is found in money.

Others seek significance through popularity or achievement.

But Christianity teaches that our ultimate purpose is found in God.

Jesus gives our lives a greater perspective.

Our talents can be used for God’s glory.

Our careers can become opportunities to serve.

Our relationships can become opportunities to love.

Our creativity can become an expression of worship.

Our suffering can become an opportunity to demonstrate faith.

Our lives can point beyond ourselves toward Christ.

That is a beautiful way to live.

Glorify Jesus With Your Gifts

God has given people different abilities.

Some people are musicians.

Some are writers.

Some are teachers.

Some are artists.

Some are business owners.

Some are athletes.

Some are caregivers.

Some are leaders.

Some work quietly behind the scenes.

Whatever gifts God has given you, consider how you can use them to glorify Jesus.

A musician can write songs that point people toward Christ.

A writer can create encouraging Christian content.

A teacher can help others understand God’s Word.

A business owner can treat employees and customers with integrity.

A parent can demonstrate patience and love.

A student can pursue excellence while honoring God.

You do not need to stand on a stage to glorify Jesus.

You can glorify Him wherever you are.

Tell Others About Jesus

If Jesus has transformed your life, do not keep the good news to yourself.

The Gospel is meant to be shared.

This does not mean that Christians need to pressure people or treat others disrespectfully.

It means we can tell people what Jesus means to us.

We can share the Gospel with humility.

We can answer questions.

We can listen.

We can demonstrate love.

We can live lives that point people toward Christ.

Sometimes our actions open the door for our words.

Sometimes our words give meaning to our actions.

Both can be important.

The goal is not to glorify ourselves as Christians.

The goal is to glorify Jesus.

Jesus Is Worthy of Everything

Ultimately, Jesus deserves more than a small part of our lives.

He deserves our hearts.

He deserves our worship.

He deserves our obedience.

He deserves our gratitude.

He deserves our trust.

He deserves our love.

The world constantly tells us to build our own name.

Jesus teaches us to glorify His name.

The world tells us to pursue temporary achievements.

Jesus points us toward eternal things.

The world tells us that our value comes from what we accomplish.

Jesus reminds us that our deepest identity is found in God.

When everything else changes, Jesus remains.

Give Jesus the Glory

There will always be things competing for our attention.

There will always be new goals to pursue.

There will always be another achievement to chase.

There will always be another distraction.

But Jesus remains worthy.

He is worthy when we are celebrating.

He is worthy when we are grieving.

He is worthy when we are succeeding.

He is worthy when we are struggling.

He is worthy when we understand.

He is worthy when we are waiting.

He is worthy because of who He is.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

He is the Savior.

He is the risen Lord.

He is the source of Christian hope.

He is the One who calls sinners to repentance and offers forgiveness.

He is the One who teaches us to love.

He is the One who gives us a reason to hope beyond this temporary life.

So let us glorify Jesus.

Let us praise His name.

Let us worship Him with our voices and our lives.

Let us use our gifts for His glory.

Let us love people because He first loved us.

Let us forgive because we have received forgiveness.

Let us serve because Jesus demonstrated servant leadership.

Let us remain faithful when life becomes difficult.

And let us continually point our hearts, our families, our churches, our communities, our music, our creativity, and our lives toward Him.

Jesus does not need our praise because He lacks glory.

He deserves our praise because He is glorious.

He does not need our worship because He needs something from us.

We worship because He is worthy.

May our lives continually declare the greatness of Jesus Christ.

May our words honor Him.

May our actions reflect Him.

May our gifts glorify Him.

May our music praise Him.

May our hearts belong to Him.

And may everything we do ultimately point people toward the One who is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.

Jesus Christ is worthy.

Jesus Christ is Lord.

Jesus Christ is our hope.

Jesus Christ is our Savior.

And to Him belongs the glory.
