Hey everyone! So today, I’ve realized that I’ve had some success as a Christian music. Though it’s not major, I imagine that there are plenty of you guys who might want to do some of the things that I do.
With that being said, today, I’m going to share with you all how I built my Christian music career from scratch, let’s get it started.
First, I prayed to God
Absolutely every, and I mean EVERYTHING about my music life, whether it’s the instruments that I bought, or the skills that I learned down to my promotional techniques that I use, I prayed to God about it first.
Back story time.
I didn’t grow up with much money.
I wasn’t the poorest kid on the block either.
But back in the day, instruments and lessons were really expensive for me and my family.
However, I wanted to learn how to play the guitar and be a musician.
So I always heard in church that you should always take
your petitions to God.
So I brought this mountain of a problem that i had before the Lord.
And I said, “Lord I need a guitar, and I need lessons, please provide lessons for me, and I will worship you.”
That year, my parents bought me a guitar, it was an inexpensive guitar, but it was a guitar nonetheless.
Also, that year, they opened up the guitar program at my middle and high school and I was one of the first guitar students that my middle school and high school ever had.
So not only did the Lord provide a guitar, but he provided lessons for free!!
Yes the Lord answers prayers.
And I remember on the day that I found out that I was going to be taking guitar lessons, I went home and i worshipped the Lord with tears and happiness.
It was a great day that the Lord gave me.
So yes, you might see me today and say that I’m a great musician, but It all started with God, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
Second, understand that it’s work
I remember when I first started the guitar, I knew that the guitar was a long term thing to learn.
I knew that it was going to require patience and persistence, dedication and effort.
So I worked hard at the guitar and music, I was working hard at singing and rapping, and producing hip-hop beats.
I worked hard at music theory and everything that the teachers ever gave me, I worked hard at it.
And so I was right because years later, I find out that all of the greats had been practicing in their basements alone for 5,6,7,8 years before they got their big break.
it takes work, and it takes patience to do great things is the lesson.
I remember that I’ve literally poured out sweat practicing the things that I’ve practiced.
Now that we understand the foundation of our work, let’s get into some practical tips and tricks on how to start your successful Christian music career.
So, back in the day, the way that you started a music career was that you went around town in your city and performed a TON of local shows almost every night.
That was before the internet was a major player for musicians.
But now we as musicians have something awesomely powerful.
We have the internet, we have the ability to connect with people all over the world with our music.
Therefore, there are a couple smart practices that you should be aware of when figuring out this music marketing landscape.
For one, creating content is the best marketing advice.
If you create content, then people will listen to your music.
So let’s make a plan that you can enact right now to start getting streams and a fanbase.
- Make great music
- create content and build a following in smart ways such as social media engagement and organic reach. DO NOT BUY ADS.
- Spend years (You heard me right years developing a following)
- in the 6th, 7th, or 8th year, you will reap the benefits of all of your hard work be promoting your music on social channels with all the content that you’ve made.
- Go swimming in Miami with the Dolphins because your hardwork paid off (This is a jok.)
and dthat’s basically the plan on how to succeed as a Christian musician.
Me personally I’m still in the grind, but I’m on the come up.
Personally me I’ve reached 2,100 views in a single month to my Christian music blog. And In reality, you should aim for at least 30,000 in a month before you start promoting, but I have read before that you can do more with less so we’ll see how it goes.
It takes time to do these things, so don’t be sad because your efforts are taking longer to do.
Broadcast
I sure hope that I have been an inspiration and a hope to you all. Please remember to pray, read your bible, go to church, and love God above all else. Like, comment, share, subscribe, and I will see you all next time.
If you want to go to heaven, then believe in Jesus and you will go to heaven. (John 3:16)
