Hey everyone! So today, I’m going to show you guys how to get into a major record label.

Before we get into that, let’s have our moment of silence.

At this time, I would like all of us to take a moment of silence and pray to God to help us to become the musician that he wants us to become. Take a minimum of 5 minutes and pray for this.

Now back to the show

How to get into a major record label? Starting off small.

So if you’re reading this, I assume that you’re already a musician. If you’re not a musician, I would actually recommend that you spend some deep thought and deep time practicing an instrument before you decide that you want to be signed to a record label.

The reason is that if you’re looking to get signed to a record label, people will want you to perform at an extraordinary level. People will want you to be someone that they can count on.

So before you look at getting signed to a record label, start off small and learn how to actually play the guitar or produce music, or play the piano and sing. Because all of those things are going to play a part when the record label decides if they want to sign you or not.

But let’s just say that you already are a musician and that you know the drill in getting signed takes time and patience. What next?

Well if you already are a musician and know that it takes a lot of hard work in order to become a great musician, then this next part is for you.

Are you ready?

Start off small!

That’s right no one ever got their start in the music industry by going straight to the big leagues.

Start off by self-releasing your own music. Or start off with an indie record label.

What happens is that major record labels want to see that you can sell out first before they decide to sign you. If your music can’t sell, why would anyone want you?

Also, it’s important to sell out small shows first before you get signed by a record label. The rule of thumb is that if you can sell out in a small area, then you can sell out in a large area.

So focus some of your SEO marketing efforts on local venues and performances because that will also set a benchmark to you as to what you should reach for the next time you perform.

Step 2 Ramp things up

Of course after you’ve spent some times in the local circuits, now it’s time to go out there and ramp things up.

Try and sell out a larger venue, maybe perform on a few tours, and try and get featured on regional artists albums.

Try and work on larger projects so that your name gets out there. Maybe even get featured on a few interviews or podcasts.

Step 3 have an EPK with an impressive list of things you’ve done in music

So an EPK is an electronic press kid and what that is, it’s basically your musical resume.

It has photos and videos of your shows, it lists how many streams you get on spotify and how much money you make from your merch. it lists the venues you’ve performed at and has your socials.

Take some time to create a great really well rounded EPK.

The reason for this is because when you send your music out to music lawyers, they will want to see what kind of person they are working with. and that same EPK could be sent to someone big in the music industry.

And the way that you get streams to your music is…

You need to start promoting your music first on social media and on your blog and YouTube channels, and that’s how you’re supposed to start.

Just basically start putting out content and in time, you will have a good fanbase for your music.

Lastly, get signed by a major record label

Now it’s time to get signed by a major record label. So, get signed. Just remember your boy who got you there. I would appreciate it.
